Lincoln F. Pratson received a Ph.D. in geology from Columbia University in 1993. He continued his research in marine geology@Columbia's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and then in 1996 moved to the University of Colorado. Two years later Pratson joined the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences@Duke University, where he remains on the faculty.
