For two days, Jamie Vernon moderated a Twitter discussion through the @realscientists handle, which hosts different scientists each week about topics of interest. Vernon focused on discussing the underperforming academic publishing model and barriers to science communication and outreach. On the first day, Vernon focused on the ways the academic publishing model affects public trust in science; on the second day, he focused on incentivizing scientists to engage with the public.
