Victor J. Katz is a professor of mathematics@the University of the District of Columbia. He is the author of a well-regarded textbook, The History of Mathematics: An Introduction (HarperCollins, 1993; second edition, Addison Wesley, 1998), which is also available in a brief version (Pearson/Addison-Wesley, 2003).
