Susan L. Cutter is a Carolina Distinguished Professor and director of the Hazards and Vulnerability Research Institute at the University of South Carolina. She is the author of Hazards, Vulnerability, and Environmental Justice (Earthscan, 2006) and American Hazardscapes: The Regionalization of Hazards and Disasters (Joseph Henry Press/National Academy of Sciences, 2001) and is a coeditor of The Geographical Dimensions of Terrorism (Routledge, 2003).
