Sheldon Rothblatt is professor emeritus of history and a faculty associate of the Center for Studies in Higher Education (which he directed from 1989 to 1996)@the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of The Modern University and Its Discontents: The Fate of Newman's Legacies in Britain and America (Cambridge University Press, 1997).
