Shadia Rifai Habbal holds a chaired professorship in solar-terrestrial physics at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth, and she is also a research physicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. She is one of three editors of the Journal of Geophysical Research--Space Physics. Her present research attempts to understand the source and acceleration of the solar wind by connecting theory with observations.
