Laurence McCook received his Ph.D. in biology from Dalhousie University in 1992; he is a research scientist specializing in the ecology of algae and reef degradation at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, working with the Cooperative Research Centre for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
