Joachim Frank is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator@the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health, and professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences@the State University of New York@Albany. He is also research professor in the Department of Cell Biology@the New York University Medical School. He holds a Ph. D. in biophysics from the Technical University of Munich. His publications cover a wide range of topics in electron optics, image processing, three-dimensional reconstruction and ribosome structure and function. He received the Elizabeth Robert Cole award of the Biophysics Society for the development of single-particle methods of reconstruction and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
