Kam-biu Liu received a doctorate in geography from the University of Toronto in 1982. After two years of postdoctoral work@the Ohio State University, he moved to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he is currently a professor in the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences.
