
Jerome Baker
Jerome F. Baker is Executive Director of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. Jerry has had a distinguished career as a scientist, manager
and administrator. He comes to Sigma Xi from the Federation of Animal Science Societies, where he was chief executive officer. He is also a former executive director, board member and treasurer of the American Society of Animal Science. A recognized leader in his field, Jerry has served on national and international program committees focused on animal genetics. He has been a faculty member at the University of Georgia, Texas A&M University and the University of Nebraska. He has edited three books, written more than 50 journal articles and served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Animal Science and the Professional Animal Scientist. He also has been active on the board of the National Coalition for Food and Agricultural Research. While at the University of Georgia, Jerry provided administrative leadership for animal and dairy science research and extension programs while maintaining an active research program on the Tifton Campus. He received his B.S. at Morningside College and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas A&M University. He was inducted into Sigma Xi in 1990 at the University of Georgia.
