Harold Y. Vanderpool is professor in the history and philosophy of medicine in the Institute for the Medical Humanities, University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Vanderpool lectures widely in the U.S. and abroad and has published more than 40 journal articles, including "Critical Ethical Issues in Clinical Trials with Xenotransplants" in The Lancet (351: 1347-1350, 1998). He is a member of the xenotransplantation subcommittee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Biologics.
