Hans van Wees is Reader in Ancient History at University College London. He is the author of Greek Warfare: Myths and Realities (June 2004) and Status Warriors: War, Violence, and Society in Homer and History (1992). He is also editor of War and Violence in Ancient Greece (2001) and joint editor of Archaic Greece: New Approaches and New Evidence (1998) and Brill’s Companion to Herodotus (2002).
