Georg Kaser, a glaciologist, is a professor at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. He has studied glaciers around the world, focusing on tropical glaciers, and has conducted field work on Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Rwenzori in Uganda, the Cordillera Blanca in Peru and the European Alps. He is in the middle of a four-year term as president of the Commission for the Cryospheric Sciences of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics. He is coauthor of Tropical Glaciers, published by Cambridge University Press in 2002.
