Joan Roughgarden is a professor of biological sciences and of geophysics@Stanford University. She is the author of, among other books, The Genial Gene: Deconstructing Darwinian Selfishness (2009) and Evolution’s Rainbow: Diversity, Gender, and Sexuality in Nature and People (2004), both from University of California Press.
