David H. DeVorkin is curator of the history of astronomy in the division of space history@the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. He is the author of Henry Norris Russell: Dean of American Astronomers (Princeton University Press, 2000). DeVorkin is also coauthor (with Robert W. Smith) of The Hubble Space Telescope: Imaging the Universe (National Geographic Society, 2004) and is the editor of Beyond Earth: Mapping the Universe (National Geographic Society, 2002).
