Briana Pobiner

Briana Pobiner received her PhD in anthropology from Rutgers University in 2007. Her research centers on the evolution of humandiet (with a focus on meat-eating) but has included topics as diverse as cannibalism in the Cook Islands and hunting by chimpanzees. She has conducted fieldwork excavating fossils and studying wild carnivores in Africa and Asia. She is a research scientist and educator in the Human Origins Program at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and an associate research professor of anthropology at the George Washington University.
