Scott Bolton

Scott Bolton is the principal investigator for the Juno mission and associate vice president of the Space Sciences and Engineering Division at the Southwest Research Institute. He earned his PhD in astrophysics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990. He led the concept design and the development of the Juno spacecraft, as well as the creation of its microwave radiometer experiment. His research expertise includes microwave radio astronomy, atmospheric science, space physics, and the origin of the Solar System. He previously served as chair of the Cassini Orbiter Titan Science Team, and of the Magnetospheric Science Working Group for the Galileo mission, in addition to other missions.
