Andrew Hynes received a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Cambridge, after which he worked for the Geological Survey of Zambia and the University of Toronto before taking up a post@McGill University, where he is the Logan Professor of Tectonics. His research interests are in the large-scale evolution of mountain belts.
