Eric S. Swanson received a doctorate in physics in 1991 from the University of Toronto, where he studied two-dimensional quantum spin systems. He worked@the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics,@the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK and@North Carolina State University (among other places) before recently joining the Department of Physics and Astronomy@the University of Pittsburgh.
