Craig Stanford is a professor of anthropology and biological sciences@the University of Southern California and codirector of its Jane Goodall Research Center. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley. He has spent more than 15 years studying the behavioral ecology and social behavior of wild great apes, especially chimpanzees, and is the author of many books and journal articles on primate behavior and human evolution. He is coauthor, with Maddalena Bearzi, of Beautiful Minds: The Parallel Lives of Great Apes and Dolphins (Harvard University Press), whose paperback edition was released this year.
