Michael Riordan, a PhD physicist, is the author of The Hunting of the Quark: A True Story of Modern Physics (Simon and Schuster, 1987; revised and updated edition, Plunkett Lake Press, 2018). He is also coauthor, with Lillian Hoddeson and Adrienne W. Kolb, of Tunnel Visions: The Rise and Fall of the Superconducting Super Collider (University of Chicago Press, 2015). He writes about science, technology, and public policy from his home on a verdant island north of Seattle.
